As a well-established and highly respected physician in the Tampa Bay area for more than 13 years, Dr. John A. Gross is considered a leader in both the medical and civic community who practices compassionate, ethical and effective medicine.
Dr. Gross’ expertise in sports medicine and primary care services are in tandem with his reputation for seeing each patient as a unique individual, taking into account lifestyle, history, age, environment, values, and outlook for a healthy future. He believes a good doctor-patient relationship begins with trust, and his personalized approach is a refreshing change for those used to cookie-cutter care often found in bigger, insurance-driven health systems. He serves as the head team medical physician for the Tampa Bay Rays and currently serves as President of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.
After attending The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree, Dr. Gross completed his residency in family medicine as well as a fellowship in sports medicine at Bayfront Medical Center. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both family medicine and sports medicine.
Dr. Gross enjoys staying fit and is an avid runner and swimmer, but also enjoys playing basketball with his daughter, Ansley, and playing and coaching baseball with his son, Jay. Dr. Gross relaxes by singing and playing music (guitar and piano).
